How Outstation Cab Fares Work in Bangalore – Per Km, Bata, Tolls & GST Explained
Outstation fares can look confusing because of the per-km rate, minimum billing, driver bata and taxes. Here is exactly how BLR Cabs and most Bangalore operators calculate the final amount.
What Makes Up an Outstation Fare
| Component | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Per-Km Rate | Charged per km on distance travelled; the cheapest tier starts around ₹13/km, and the top tier (Volvo coach) reaches ₹70/km |
| 300 KM/Day Minimum | Even if actual distance is less, 300 km/day is billed as the minimum for that day |
| Driver Bata (Allowance) | A fixed daily charge separate from the per-km fare — ranges from ₹400/day (sedan) to ₹1,000/day (bus/coach) |
| Night Halt / Night Bata | An additional charge if the driver has to halt overnight away from base |
| Tolls & Parking | Always extra, charged at actuals for the route taken |
| Interstate Permit | Extra, applicable when crossing into another state |
| GST | Applicable on the total fare as per current government rules; ask for a GST invoice if needed for business travel |

One-Way vs Round-Trip Billing
Round-trip fares are billed on total km driven for the full to-and-fro journey, with the 300 km/day minimum applying per day of travel. One-way fares depend on the operator and route — some routes have a fixed one-way fare, while others may still factor in the vehicle’s return distance since the driver has to bring the vehicle back empty. Always confirm whether a quote is strictly one-way or includes a return-km component before booking.
