Bangalore to Tirupati Road Trip Guide: Route, Stops & Itinerary
Tirupati is one of the most frequent pilgrimage drives from Bengaluru, well suited to a focused same-day or overnight trip.
How to reach Tirupati from Bengaluru by road
Via Hoskote, Kolar and Chittoor (main route)
From Bengaluru, head out via Hoskote and continue to Kolar, crossing into Andhra Pradesh near Palamaner. From there the road continues to Chittoor and on to Tirupati, passing through a mix of highway and state road sections.
Via Bagepalli as an alternative
Travellers starting from north Bengaluru sometimes route via Bagepalli and Madanapalle instead of Kolar, rejoining the main road before Chittoor — a reasonable variant depending on your starting point in the city.

Most pilgrims leave Bengaluru around 3–4 am to reach Tirupati by mid-morning, allowing time in the queue for darshan. The route is a mix of national and state highway, generally well-surfaced with moderate town traffic through Kolar and Chittoor.
Fuel and food stops are frequent along this route, so planning breaks is easy. Keep some buffer time for traffic near Tirupati town itself, especially on weekends and during major festival periods when pilgrim volumes are high.
Best time to visit Tirupati
October to March offers the coolest, most comfortable conditions for both the drive and the temple visit, avoiding the peak summer heat of the Andhra plains. This period also tends to have manageable pilgrim crowds outside major festivals.
April to June gets quite hot during the day, so an early start is especially important. The monsoon months bring occasional heavy showers on the Andhra stretch, but the route generally remains driveable with some added caution.
| Season | Months | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Winter | Oct–Feb | Best — cool, comfortable driving and darshan queues |
