Route

How to reach Srirangapatna from Bengaluru by road

NH275 Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway

The direct route follows the expressway through Bidadi, Ramanagara, Channapatna, Maddur and Mandya, turning off just before Mysuru to reach the island town of Srirangapatna. It is a smooth, mostly divided highway for almost the entire distance.

Combining with Mysore

Since Srirangapatna sits only about 15 km short of Mysuru, most travellers continue on to Mysuru for the palace and markets, or visit Srirangapatna as a stop on the return leg of a Mysore trip rather than as a separate outing.

An early start avoids Bengaluru’s morning outbound traffic on Mysuru Road and Kengeri; the expressway itself moves fast once you clear Bidadi. Toll plazas appear along the way, so keep FASTag ready.

The route is flat with no ghat driving, so there are no restricted night-driving hours. Fuel stations and eateries are plentiful near Ramanagara, Channapatna and Maddur, making a mid-route breakfast stop easy to plan.

Season

Best time to visit Srirangapatna

October to February brings cool mornings and comfortable afternoons, ideal for walking the fort ruins and temple complex without the midday heat of summer.

March to May gets hot by late morning, so an early visit works best. The monsoon (June–September) brings the Kaveri to its fullest and the island setting looks particularly green, with only occasional rain interrupting sightseeing.
